Robert G. Frie, Retired - Attorney

Bob Frie is the founding partner of Danborn, Thiessen & Dunham P.C. He graduated in 1971 from the University of Notre Dame School of Law and began his legal practice in Arvada in 1971, and has been an active part of the community since that time.

Jim Arndt joined Bob’s practice and formed Frie & Arndt LLP in 1985.  They added Paul Danborn as an associate in 1995 and the firm became known as Frie, Arndt & Danborn LLP in 2001.  Patrick Thiessen joined the firm in 2018 and by 2020 the firm was known as Frie, Arndt, Danborn & Thiessen P.C.  Ashlee Dunham joined the firm in 2021 and became a shareholder in 2024.  Given Jim’s retirement in 2019 and Bob’s retirement in 2024, the firm’s name changed to Danborn, Thiessen & Dunham P.C.

Bob received the Award of Merit from the Jefferson County Bar Association in 2012 and Best Attorney in Jefferson County in 2012.  Throughout his legal career spanning more than five decades, Bob served as the Mayor of Arvada three separate times, the most recent in 2011, for a total of 20 years of service as Mayor.

While no longer actively practicing, Bob remains an invaluable resource to all the attorneys in the firm.  He greatly enjoys puzzling through a tangled fact pattern and piecing together a legal strategy that best serves the firm’s clients.
